Thornhill
residents are lucky to have local Neighbourhood Wardens. They
are helping improve the appearance of public areas, reduce
crime and build community confidence. They also need your
help.
The
Wardens work closely with community groups, agencies and individuals
to empower local people to address issues. Through this outlet
residents can help set the priorities for their Neighbourhood
Wardens by raising their concerns.
Tasks
for The Wardens:
- Arranging
the removal of graffiti, litter and bulky rubbish
- Responding
to minor anti-social behaviour and neighbour dispute incidents
- Working
to maintain the good appearance of communal areas
- Supporting
older people, vulnerable residents and victims of crime
- Reporting
abandoned vehicles and monitoring their removal
- Health
and Safety checks
- Helping
to keep empty properties safe and secure where possible
- Some
cleaning of entrances, refuse areas and shared areas of
the council's low-level blocks of flats
The
Neighbourhood Wardens will equip residents with a greater
sense of pride, which is great news for Thornhill. They are
not police officers or security guards, but people who care
for your area and will work with you to make Thornhill a cleaner
and safer place.
The
wardens can be contacted by speaking to them when they are
out in the neighbourhood, by ringing Actionline on
freephone 0800 519 1919, visiting the Local Housing
Office or through local community groups, residents and tenants
associations.
