Thornhill Centre for Healthy Living

A new health clinic in Thornhill called the Thornhill Centre for Health Living was officially opened on Friday 19th May 2006.

This project has seen Thornhill Plus You, Southampton City Primary Care Trust (PCT) and Thornhill Surgery joined forces to offer a clinic that will provide general family support as well as specialised healthcare services such as:

  • child and adolescent mental health
  • contraception and sexual health
  • speech and language therapy
  • dietary advice
  • children’s services

Other features will include two fully equipped dental surgeries, a health education room (for Stop Smoking sessions perhaps), health visiting services, health assessments and a well baby’ clinic.

The centre also boasts improved waiting areas, access for the disabled and a ‘play and stay’ children’s area that includes a protected outdoor garden and exterior landscaping.

“We are really pleased to be involved in this project to improve health services for the people of Thornhill,” says Carl Pender, Project Manager of Southampton City PCT. “We are grateful to Dr Benning, who has been closely involved with the project and who has given over land to Southampton City PCT, enabling the build to go ahead.”
