Locality Family Workers

Locality Family Workers are employed to offer practical help and assistance to families, children and young people in the area. They are involved with activities such as:

• Supporting a mother coping with a new baby

• Helping parents develop skills to play with their child by model making, teaching nursery rhymes etc.

• Assisting parents / carers to make use of local health, education or social facilities

• Encouraging families in basic routines and household management by carrying out activities alongside them

• Accompanying a young person to a youth group to help them settle in

The feedback from Thornhill families has so far been very positive.
