Choices Advocacy

Do you live in Thornhill?
Have you heard about Advocacy in Thornhill?
Following the work of the Community Access Project, Choices Advocacy have been given funding for an Advocate to work for one year in Thornhill.
What is advocacy?
Advocacy is being there for someone, listening to them and supporting them to speak up for themselves and to be heard. You might need an Advocate because:
- You are feeling lonely and would like help to access activities in your area
- You are going through a legal process and would like someone to accompany you to court or to see your solicitor
- You would like help to challenge a decision made about you by a statutory agency (such as the Council or NHS)
- You want to move and would like support with the housing application process
- You are disabled and people seem to ignore you
- You become nervous at meetings and would like someone to help you speak up and tell people your views and opinions
- You are experiencing bullying, abuse or intimidation and would like support to do something about it
If you would like to find out more about what an Advocate can do for you please call Tracey Strong on 023 8033 7735 or email tracey@choices-advocacy.org.uk.
