The aim of Thornhill Plus You’s Business Broker project is to match business interests with community needs. The Business Broker works with the ethos that large local employers have a social responsibility to engage with the issues and challenges facing local people.

As a vehicle for making things happen, Thornhill’s Business Broker has been successful in equipping 23 residents with volunteering opportunities at local primary schools. The Reading Friends scheme allows children to spend 30 minutes to an hour reading aloud.

Not only has this project significantly helped with local pupils’ reading abilities, volunteers also have enhanced confidence combined with a worthwhile sense of community cohesion.
