ABOUT
ME
Hi, I'm Michele Exton, the Tenant Involvement Officer
for Thornhill.
You may well have seen me around the neighbourhood as
I am often out and about meeting and talking to residents.
I really enjoy working on Thornhill as I get to meet
so many interesting people; there's never a dull moment!
MY
JOB
I
am based in the Thornhill Local Housing Office and my
job is to get tenants and leaseholders involved with
housing matters so that they can help guide Southampton
City Council and Thornhill Plus You in the way their
homes are provided and managed. I'm here to encourage
residents to give whatever time they can, no matter
how little, to give their views and get involved so
that they can take ownership of the improvements in
their neighbourhood. My job can be challenging because
people lead such busy lives and don't have much time
to spare.

POINT
OF MY ROLE
Our
tenants and leaseholders come from all walks of life and have
many varied backgrounds so it's really important to get the
views of as many people as possible. We want to know what
everyone's housing needs and desires are so that we can use
this information to continue improving the neighbourhood.
I
know it's really difficult to juggle time and I know a lot
of people don't think we listen but I have witnessed the power
of residents' views and the influence they can have. It's
definitely worth residents giving their views when they are
consulted about issues, as it really does steer the Council
and Thornhill Plus You towards making decisions that the community
wants.
