The Thornhill Streetscene project will improve the look of the area along Hinkler Road as a key route through Thornhill, helping to create a cleaner, greener and safer Thornhill.

Thornhill Plus You are working with Southampton City Council to make improvements to inappropriate on and off street car parking, poor quality footways and carriageway surfaces and tired small green spaces. These improvements will complement those also being achieved through the Better Neighbourhood project.

The 1st phase of Thornhill Streetscene will focus on the junction between Hinkler Road, Bursledon Road and Carey Road.

Consulations with residents began in October 2008 to tackle the issues they have with the current situation in that area. Feedback was taken to the designers, Capita Symonds, to produce plans for the improvements.

The design team are currently working with Thornhill Plus You and Southampton City Council to finalise the plans. The consultation process for the remainder of the Thornhill Streetscene project will be starting shortly.
