2007 Thornhill Community Awards

Thornhill is a great place to live and every day throughout the area local people are giving up their time to make other people's lives better. The Thornhill Community Awards is an evening of fun celebrations, acknowledging the people that have made a difference to the Thornhill community. This year's award ceremony is being sponsored by MITIE.

If your nominee is lucky enough to be short listed, you will both be invited to the evening that includes the awards ceremony with guest of honour, live music, refreshments and much more. Maybe you know someone who runs or assists a local group; coaches football; looks after their neighbours; excels in sports; raises funds for a good cause or has turned their life around in some way. Why not put them forward for one of these prestigious awards?

The categories are:

Citizen of the Year

You might know someone who represents their community in a good light and has the ‘WOW' factor.

Volunteer of the Year

This person may have shown dedication or given up their own time for the community.

Young Person of the Year (7-11-year-olds)

This might be someone who has tried something new, helped out at an event or simply deserves recognition.

Young Person of the Year (12-17-year-olds)

This might be someone who has tried something new, helped out at an event or simply deserves recognition.

Young Volunteer of the Year

This might be a younger resident of the community who has shown selfless commitment and given up their own time.

Neighbour of the Year

This might be that special person, a neighbour you could not live without.

Young Achiever of the Year (7-11-year-olds)

This award is for a young person who has worked particularly hard for something they believe in.

Young Achiever of the Year (12-17-year-olds)

This award is for a young person who has worked particularly hard for a something they believe in.

Once you have chosen a category, tell us why you think this person deserves the award by completing the nomination form overleaf. The judges' decision is based on the content of the nomination form, so it is vital you provide as much information as possible.

You may want to include:

» Details of the person's or group's work

» What effect this work has had on the community or individuals involved i.e. any positive results towards the community or an individual arising from their work.

» Any issues or problems you are aware of that this group or individual have had to overcome

»Examples, which demonstrate their dedication to the project or work done, how this benefits others in the community and what it is that makes them stand out.

»You may include any other information that will support your nomination, such as photographs, letters of support or quotes.
