THORNHILL
TODDLERS TAUGHT TO TALK THROUGH TOUCH, TONE AND TEMPO
Parents
with children under 5 years of age are being invited
to take part in ‘Mad Music Monday' on Monday, 26th March
at St Christopher's Church, Thornhill, between 10 a.m.
and 12 midday.
With
an expert musician and speech therapist in attendance,
‘Mad Music Monday' is a project that aims to help under
5s with speech and language skills. By making musical
instruments children will use percussion, sound and
rhythm to understand better verbal and non-verbal communications.
At the end of the morning parents are invited to enjoy
refreshments and will have a chance to discuss the benefits
of the musical session.
Pat
Hawkins, a co-ordinator for the Family Support Project,
commented: “This is a great opportunity for parents
and their young children to enjoy a fun morning of music,
as well as learning basic and essential communication
skills. Toddlers will learn sound signs and understand
how communication and music are closely related.”
‘Mad
Music Monday' has been organised by the Family Support
Project, which is funded jointly by Thornhill Plus You
and the Southampton City Primary Care Trust, and is
free of charge. For more information about ‘Mad Music
Monday' please contact Pat Hawkins on 023 8046 7154.
