Hinkler Green has been awarded Green Flag Status
Hinkler Green has successfully achieved Green Flag status after only its second attempt at going for the award. The Friends of Hinkler Green took on board the comments and recommendations given to them by the judges last year and this has obviously been more than enough to secure this prestigoius honour.
Duncan House, Chairman of the Friends of Hinkler Green reflected the feelings of all those who have worked so hard during the past 3 years to improve the Green with his response to the great news: “Brilliant! We thought we’d just about done enough this time and the judges seemed positive. I’m so pleased for all those involved in the improvements and for the hundreds of local people who enjoy the Green that the ‘park experts’ agree with us - Hinkler Green is a really special place, worth looking after and improving even more.”
The Friends of Hinkler Green are keen to keep the improvements flowing but they need new members to help out. Anyone interested should contact the Council project officer for the Green, Bob Reeve on 07789 982261 or bob.reeve@southampton.gov.uk and try to attend the AGM on Wednesday 15th September.
